I have just looked out of my workroom window and my neighbour has a salix in her garden…not sure which one …looks like it could grow quite large…but it is full of catkins and is being visited by a huge bumble bee…it can’t get enough…so I think I have answered our question….
Beautiful – are those specimens in the Fellows’ Garden? Hope to make NGS Open Day – would be lovely treat. Do you still mow “Wittengenstein’s Path” … Hoping your week is going well, best, Sarah
All very strokable, I’m not surprised the bees and butterflies love them – a very comfortable diner. I wanted to ‘like’ but can’t see the button, but I do like!

I don’t actually like this tree but your photos certainly do it justice.

Thank you, I can see why some don’t like them but the bees love ’em 🙂

Wittgenstein’s paths are still mown – that will never change. The Salix’s are planted just beyond the Fellows’ Garden in the Burrell’s Field area.

Again, wonderful photos! And to capture a bee as well, so lovely! You’ve captured the essence of spring.

Thank you – I’m glad you liked it 🙂 The Salix were alive with bees and butterflies but they were camera shy and would not play ball!

It’s a very popular diner as well. The like button hiding then?

I was on my phone, if that makes a difference, or I was just being dim!
